Task bar blank/other operational problems
I tried uninstalling, using the office uninstaller, and reinstalling with the correct (unused) product key and same error is coming up. First screen comes up and checks to make sure I am not trying to update an account with this cd-key, and am actually making a new one. I hit enter, it keeps going. I just reformatted my laptop and am trying to reinstall Windows XP, but am getting an "cd key you entered is not valid" error. My computer came with XP installed on it, but I don't have the original XP cd that shipped with it. So I'm using a friend's setup CD together with my old product key, but it's not accepting

The install refuses to accept my product key with the error "The CD key you entered is not valid". I've tried a clean install making the 4 boot disks after trying a clean install from CD. No difference. I've tried the key about 10 times UC/LC etc. My wife checked the key numbers also and agrees something is wrong.

Can you trade the old cd in for a newer one? When you speak of the "validation code", do you mean the product key? What type of Windows XP Professional is it? (OEM, Retail, Upgrade?) If you do mean the product key that you enter when installing - what have you been entering for the product key when you install it?
